rush home train

Whenever there is holiday season, people rush to their homes. This happens across the world. Mostly in Americas and Europe this happens at the Christmas & New Year Eve. In India, this is mostly during Deepawali – festival of lights. For few its not a pleasant travel. Indian Railways runs special trains during the Deepawali time for people to travel back to their home towns.

However, the number of travelers and number of available seats do not match. Its a difficult situation to manage for the railway officials as the travelers are all charged up with festive mood.

Travelers come down to the tracks for boarding trains.
Its a security hazard. People tend to flout railway safety rules in the pretext of heavy rush.
Security forces are limited by the sheer number of people that are present.

Can’t even imagine a ticket checker to enter these bogies for ticket checking.

Every year this happens and is forgotten.

Railways play a major role in keeping entire India connected. Its pertinent for the government to handle this appropriately.
