Virtue of Confidence

Confidence is a promising virtue !

So this should be read with the right spirit wile understanding the essence of what is being said. The writing, in no way, intends to belittle the importance of other virtues that one should possess. A good life is nothing but an amalgamation of all the virtues. And bringing all the good virtues is a difficult feat to perform.

Let’s talk about confidence.

What is Confidence?

An anecdote to share here. Someone commented at the portrait of Gertrude Stein (an American novelist) drawn by Pablo Picasso that Stein does not look like the portrait drawn. To this Picasso replied, “She will”.

If confidence was the only virtue in this world and needed to be explained, probably Pablo’s reply could cite cited as an explanation.

Confidence is like preempting that things will ultimately fall in place. It acknowledges the current scenario that might now be favorable. However, it declares that things will get better because you have been working on it.

It is slightly more than a hope.

Hope is humble.

Confidence is promising.

And a promise is what one can make 🙂

Hope has to be God sent !

“After a while I murmured to Picasso that I liked his portrait of Gertrude Stein. Yes, he said, everybody says that she does not look like it but that does not make any difference, she will, he said.”
