Home to India’s first and probably oldest voter is a small village named Kalpa in Himachal Pradesh.
Kalpa has a well educated population that follows both Hinduism and Buddhism.
Buddhist Prayer flags.
Temple roof
Hindu Temple.
Kalpa takes pride in its apples.
Kalpa apples are a favourite!
Villagers also distill alcohol at their home made distellieries. Alcohol and non-vegetarian food constitutes the food palate.
It’s a peaceful place. People love to take a pitstop here on their way to spiti valley.

Like any village, it welcomes a tourist to spend a few days in calm. Only if the tourist is willing to relax and be a part of its innocence…
