Just as the lockdown in India began in early 2020, a movement named Amche Mollem was launched in Goa. Government passed an order to start development of a railway line, electricity transmission line and a highway through the forests of Goa. While the intent of the project was to boost the economic development, the locals were not happy with the environmental impact of the project. They felt that the environmental impact assessment of the projects was not conducted properly.
Mollem is a village in Goa. Amche Mollem means save Mollem in local language.
